New Video: Curved Incline Conveyor

Eaglestone Equipment’s curved incline conveyors are ideal for packaging lines where products need to change elevations as well as negotiate curves. These conveyors are designed to reduce capital equipment costs while simplifying product transfers.

Our curved incline conveyors transfer products from one elevation to another while rounding a curve ranging from 1° to 180°. This type of product transfer is typically done using two conveyors: an incline conveyor coupled with a curved conveyor. We are able to combine these two operations into a single conveyor, reducing overall packaging line equipment costs.

Additionally, combining these two operations into a single conveyor eliminates a transition point and doesn’t disturb the orientation of the product. As with all other Eaglestone conveyors, the curved incline conveyors are designed for clean and quiet operation in the most demanding production environments.

Curved incline conveyors are available in belt widths from 2-1/4” to 12”, in a range of belt materials including smooth top, friction insert top and stainless steel chain. Full customization of these conveyors is possible with a variety of options including side transfer rollers, live rollers, variable frequency drives (VFD), side guides and PLC integration controls.

Technology Update: SANIMotor™ IP69K Rated Stainless Steel Motors

For food processing and packaging applications, all components of our conveyors must be able to stand up to extreme washdown conditions. The motors are no exception, and that’s why many of our conveyors are now incorporating Bison’s IP69K Rated SANIMotors™.

The stainless steel SANIMotor™ is designed to ensure long, trouble free life in harsh environments. All electrical components are encapsulated in thermally conductive epoxy resin, allowing use in up to 40C ambient temperatures. The encapsulated assembly is enclosed within a 303 stainless steel tube and investment castings front and back.

The extra wide transfer conveyor in this video is designed for a high volume food product application. It features small diameter nose bars on both ends for easy transfer of products.

Merging Conveyor
The 54’ merging conveyor in this video was engineering for a frozen bread product application. It utilizes Intralox’s Activated Roller Belt (ARB) technology to merge the products on the conveyor.

Eaglestone Internship Program

The future of manufacturing in the USA depends largely on manufacturers being able to hire employees with the right set of skills. A recent study by the Manufacturing Institute and the Deloitte Group finds that the skills gap is widening, both in skilled production jobs (machinists, operators, technicians, etc.) as well as engineering positions. Sadly, our schools are not keeping up in producing graduates that have the skills necessary to meet the rapidly changing nature of manufacturing work.

To do our part in the training the next generation, Eaglestone currently employs three interns. Two of our interns are in our machining and fabrication department. Mark is Eaglestone’s machinist intern, working side by side with our journeymen machinists to learn the trade inside and out. Jake is our high school intern, and is currently learning machining and fabrication from the ground up.

Chris is about to graduate from ITT with an associates of applied science in drafting and design, and is currently interning in our engineering department. Chris states “I’ve been able to apply everything that I learned in the classroom here at Eaglestone. I’ve participated in the entire manufacturing process, from purchasing raw materials and components all the way to installation of new conveyors systems at our customers.”

Featured Video: Custom Vertical Lift

Technology Updates: UHMW Guides

As an option on all conveyors, Eaglestone is pleased to offer guides made from oil-impregnated UHMW (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene). These plastic extrusions feature excellent impact strength and abrasion resistance, as well as a low coefficient of friction and very good chemical resistance.

The high lubricity of UHMW makes it an excellent choice for conveyor guides, as there is less wear and tear on the corners of the conveyors. UHMW is also moisture, stain and odor resistant, and is FDA approved for food industry conveyors.

Better Production: Shop Floor 3D CAD System

Shop Floor 3D CAD System at EaglestoneAt Eaglestone, we’re dedicated to engineering and building the finest products in the industry. To promote ease of assembly for our conveyors and equipment, we’ve given all of our assembly technicians and engineers access to a shop floor 3D CAD system right in the assembly area.

The system allows our team to digitally access assembly instructions and measurements, as well as view 3D models and see design details. This interactive system delivers a level of depth and detail that a collection of printed drawings simply cannot provide.

“This CAD system helps us to reduce the disconnect between design and final product,” states Carmen Sammauro, President at Eaglestone. “Giving everyone in the assembly phase access to 3D drawings of the product helps them to fully visualize all product details, no matter how small. This not only eliminates assembly errors, but also helps to speed up production time.”
